Cement & SCMs

From heavy-duty vibrating equipment to advanced thermal processing systems, Carrier delivers solutions engineered to meet the rigorous demands of cement manufacturing. Our technologies support critical processes such as raw material feeding, conveying, drying, cooling, and screening to ensure efficient drying and material handling from quarry to finished product.

Reliable Vibrating Equipment for Cement Manufacturing

Cement manufacturing places extreme demands on material-handling and thermal-processing equipment. Hot clinker discharge, abrasive raw materials, and 24/7 production require systems that can operate reliably under heat, wear, and continuous load.

Carrier Vibrating Equipment engineers and builds vibrating conveyors, feeders, dryers, coolers, and integrated process systems specifically for cement plants. Our solutions provide stable material flow, uniform drying & cooling, reduced maintenance, and long-term durability across every stage of cement production. From kiln discharge to grinding, screening, and finished product handling, Carrier systems help cement producers improve uptime, stabilize product quality, and lower operating costs.

Equipment for Cement Producers

Carrier’s vibrating fluid bed dryers remove surface moisture, cool hot materials, and improve the flowability of SCMs like slag, fly ash, and natural pozzolans. Rising fuel costs make vibratory fluid beds an economically attractive alternative to traditional rotary dryers because the material is suspended and surrounded by hot air which delivers significantly higher thermal efficiency.

Since SCMs often arrive with varying surface moisture, fluid beds use a combination of vibration and upward airflow to uniformly dry materials to maintain product quality and avoid clumping in downstream cement mixing.

Flash drying raw materials and SCMs such as fly ash, slag, and pozzolana provides high-velocity, short-residence-time airflow – ideal for removing surface moisture.

Carrier flash dryers can be used for pre-drying clinker prior to crushing and grinding in a Vertical Roller Mill (VRM). This process optimizes cement raw material preparation, especially when handling materials with high-moisture content. The flash dryer removes surface moisture quickly, preventing wet material from agglomerating and stalling the VRM, providing simultaneous drying and grinding.

Vibrating fluid bed coolers are used for processing cement and Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) – providing rapid, uniform cooling, preventing agglomeration, and offering precise temperature control necessary to stabilize materials prior to blending, storage, or packaging.

Cooling cement and SCMs to lower, stable temperatures prevents the degradation of additives and eliminates heat-related issues when packaging in plastic or paper bags. The fluidized state suspends individual particles in a cooling air stream to ensure direct, rapid heat transfer. Carrier’s vibrating beds allow for simultaneous drying and cooling in one machine, which prevents moisture from condensing and causing solid lumps in silos or bags.

Vibratory-designed conveyors evenly distribute hot clinker for uniform heat transfer and can be integrated with cooling jackets to minimize thermal shock and improve downstream grinding efficiency.

Troughs can be fitted with screens to separate oversized materials, lumps, or debris before the final product packaging or milling stages.

Knead and compress filled cement bags into uniform size for palletizing and storage. Carrier’s bag flattening conveyors remove trapped air and evenly distribute the cement which allows for safe, dense, and stable pallet stacking and storage. Squeezing out excess air reduces bag tears and damage.

Carrier elevators feature high-temperature designs that can include water/steam jackets to evenly cool the hot clinker as it travels upward. They lift vertically in a constrained space, saving valuable floor area compared to traditional horizontal belts or long inclines.

The spiral elevators’ vibratory motion transports highly abrasive materials, like hot clinker or limestone, vertically in a continuous spiral. They provide a compact vertical lift while simultaneously managing high temperatures, reducing material degradation, and cooling the product.

Carrier’s vibrating feeders precisely meter and regulate the flow of battery materials into production equipment, ensuring consistent throughput and improved process control.

Efficiently feed raw materials like spodumene, lithium carbonate, and lithium hydroxide with Carrier’s unique vibratory motion. As a pioneer in vibratory equipment, our feeders prevent fine, moisture-sensitive powders from clumping or sticking to ensure even feed rates into crushers, calciners, and dryers.

Ensure the continuous, reliable flow of dry, compacted cement powder, limestone, fly ash, and other materials from storage silos and hoppers. Carrier’s vibrating bin discharger resolves flow disruptions such as ratholing, arching, and flushing by promoting a steady, first-in, first-out discharge.

Cement and fine additives settle and compact in storage over time. Vibrating dischargers agitate the material to reduce friction between the particles and the silo walls. By discharging material from the bin on a first-in, first-out basis, they prevent older, settled material from getting trapped and degrading. This guarantees a uniform, uninterrupted feed into downstream processes like milling, mixing, or packaging.

Specialized vibrating screening conveyors can move materials continuously through high-temperature or abrasive environments while simultaneously sorting them, which reduces the need for multiple, dedicated machines

By consistently filtering and classifying materials, Carrier’s vibrating screeners stabilizes how cement and SCMs hydrate, resulting in uniform concrete setting times, workability, and compressive strength.
