Carrier equipment helps plastics and rubber manufacturers improve material handling, thermal processing, and product quality throughout production. From conveying and drying plastic resins to cooling rubber compounds and processing recycled materials, our solutions are engineered to deliver consistent performance, efficient operation, and reliable throughput. With decades of experience and extensive testing capabilities, Carrier helps manufacturers optimize processes while meeting demanding production and quality requirements.

Plastic & Rubber Processing Equipment

Plastic and rubber production demands precise control over temperature, moisture, and material flow. From pellet drying and quenching to conveying crumb rubber and screening recycled resin, processors must protect product quality while maintaining continuous throughput across demanding production environments.

Carrier Vibrating Equipment designs and builds vibrating fluid bed dryers, coolers, spiral elevators, conveyors, and feeders engineered for acrylic, PET, polyurethane, polycarbonate, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, PVC, crumb rubber, EPDM granules, butadiene rubber (BR) and other synthetic rubbers, and recycled plastics.

Our systems deliver uniform drying and cooling, gentle product handling, non-stick conveying, and continuous-duty reliability for temperature-sensitive and adhesion-prone plastic and rubber materials.

Engineered for Plastic & Rubber Processing

Uniform Drying for Temperature-Sensitive Materials

Vibrating fluid bed dryers provide consistent heat transfer across plastic pellets and rubber crumbs without overheating or introducing surface damage.

Compact Elevation Without Clumping

Spiral elevators cool and elevate plastic and rubber in a small footprint, eliminating the clumping and uneven drying common with belt conveyors and bucket elevators

Non-Stick Conveying & Handling

Custom coatings and vibration angle of attack prevent adhesion buildup and bed matting in sticky or tacky rubber and plastic streams.

Multi-Function Conveying

Vibrating conveyors perform quenching, dewatering, spray washing, screening, and cooling in a single inline system reducing equipment count and floor space.

Plastic & Rubber Processing Pain Points

Plastic and rubber producers commonly face:

Pellet clumping, sticking, and bed matting during drying and conveying
Inconsistent moisture levels causing downstream quality defects
Surface damage or degradation from excessive heat exposure
Material buildup on equipment surfaces between batches
Frequent cleaning and changeover downtime
Uneven drying causing off-spec product
Equipment wear from abrasive recycled or filled plastics

Carrier vibrating systems are engineered to eliminate these problems.

Why Plastic & Rubber Processors Choose Carrier

Carrier solutions deliver:

Uniform drying and cooling for temperature-sensitive plastics and rubbers
Non-stick surfaces and vibration geometry to prevent bed matting and buildup
Gentle product handling that protects pellet integrity and surface finish
Compact spiral elevator designs that reduce plant footprint
Multi-process conveyors that combine quenching, washing, and drying in one pass
Natural-frequency vibration for energy-efficient, low-maintenance operation
Custom-engineered systems for specific resin types, pellet sizes, and moisture targets
Continuous-duty reliability for high-volume extrusion and compounding lines

Carrier Equipment for Plastics & Rubber

Carrier vibrating fluid bed dryers efficiently dry, and dewater temperature-sensitive plastics and rubber keeping particles uniformly mixed to prevent burning, clumping, or inconsistent moisture levels. By passing temperature-controlled air through a vibrating bed of materials, they fluidize the pellets, powders, or crumbs.

Reduce the temperature of hot plastic pellets and crumb rubber while continually agitating the material. Carrier’s gentle, harmonic vibration prevents sticky materials from bed matting, ensures uniform cooling, and prevents thermal degradation or hot spots before packaging or other downstream processing.

Spiral elevators use vibration to vertically transport materials. Carrier’s spirals can be designed for thermal processing while elevating. They are used in plastic and rubber processing to gently cool rubber pellets, sticky rubber, temper plastic resins, and remove moisture without damaging the product or taking up valuable factory floor space.

Carrier vibrating conveyors efficiently process and condition bulk plastics and sticky rubber crumb. They provide multi-step processing – such as drying, cooling, quenching, and dewatering – while simultaneously transporting materials. By utilizing precise, continuous vibration, they prevent bridging and stop material from sticking to the conveyor bed.

Compress and flatten bottom-heavy, irregular bags of plastics (like pellets or resins) and rubber with Carrier’s bag flattener conveyor. This process expels trapped air while safely moving the material to palletizing stations – creating uniform, stable stacks that are significantly easier to store, handle, and ship.

Quickly cool hot or molten rubber and plastic using water baths or sprays to stabilize material and prevent unwanted deformation.

Our quenching conveyors for plastic and rubber processing cool and solidify hot materials to prevent bed matting, dewater after wash processes, and efficiently screen or distribute materials – all while reducing maintenance downtime.

Carrier vibrating feeders meter controlled rates of rubber or plastic material to feed downstream equipment.

These feeders can be designed to efficiently move difficult, irregular, or sticky materials like rubber crumb smoothly without the blockages, bridging, or fouling common with conventional screw or belt conveyors.

Carrier’s vibrating screeners are used to classify particle sizes, filter out contaminants, and remove fine dust to ensure product quality and protect downstream machinery.

Separate plastic pellets and granules from “angel hair” extruded plastic, dust, and oversized chunks to ensure uniform raw materials that feed smoothly into injection molding or extrusion machines. Remove foreign objects and separate out-of-spec regrind before the plastic is recycled.

Separate, size, and dewater rubber and crumb rubber. Ensure uniform particle size for crumb rubber, extract unwanted contaminants, and separate leftover steel wire from shredded scrap tires. De-dust rubber powders and granules. Specialty screeners remove excess water from coagulated rubber crumbs, allowing them to pass through dryers without clumping together.
